Child & Family Outpatient
The D&E Counseling Center provides a full array of behavioral health services, including individual, group and family counseling, community support, and psychiatric services. Based on the needs of the child and family, the best location for services will be determined, including providing home-based and/or school-based counseling, if necessary. |

Early Childhood Services
The Early Childhood Services are designed to assist parents, caregivers, and teachers in developing more adequate and appropriate skills in order to increase interactions with children that will enhance the emotional and behavioral growth potential of young children. Services include group training sessions, consultation services to pre-school staff, and direct group experiences to preschool-aged children. The Center also employs therapists who are specially trained to work with children six years of age and under. |

Truancy Intervention
The Truancy Intervention Program (TIP) provides community support services to families identified by the Youngstown City Schools as in need of an intervention to improve attendance in school. This program is a collaborative between Mahoning County Job and Family Services, the Youngstown City Schools, the Mahoning County Juvenile Court, and a local social service agency. The goal of the program is to reduce truancy in selected families by providing a home and community based service that improves relationships, identifies needs, refers and links with providers to overcome barriers to attendance and monitors improvements. TIP workers link, monitor, advocate, and refer families to needed services to eliminate barriers that may interfere with a child going to school. |
Depression Awareness / Suicide Prevention
The primary function of this service is the early identification of depression, suicide risk, and other mental health issues among students by promoting and coordinating the implementation of various screening programs, such as Red Flags Program, SOS: Signs of Suicide Program and the Teen Screen Assessment. Secondarily, this service provides on-site mental health/behavioral consultation to assist schools in addressing and coordinating services for students with identified mental health needs. |

Summer Intensive Outpatient Program
The Summer Intensive Outpatient Program is located at the Center’s Camp Challenge facility. Established in 1980, it is a therapeutic program designed to help emotionally and behaviorally disordered children receiving services from the D&E Counseling Center. By participating in recreational activities that incorporate a strong therapeutic component, the children learn to effectively control their behaviors. The IOP is designed to work with children with serious social skills deficits and significant disruptive behavior problems, problems that are interfering with their ability to successfully function at home and school. |
School Based Services
Center staff works with school personnel and families to increase the chance for student success by providing behavioral health consultation and treatment services in the schools, as appropriate. |

Intensive Home/Community-Based Family Counseling Services (Level II)
The Level II service is an intensive home-based child and family and counseling service designed to assist a family with a child in crisis and/or reduce the risk of more restrictive care. The end result is to reduce the overall stress level and increase family stability to a point where the family may benefit from, and be more amenable to traditional (Level I) counseling. |
